At the invitation of the European Studies Center of SCU, Dr. Xinning SONG, Jean Monnet Chair Professor and Director of the Centre for European Studies at Renmin University of China, paid a visit to Sichuan University on November 10, 2009. Dr. Song is also the senior researcher of Comparative Regional Integration Studies at the United Nations University in Belgium. During his stay, Dr. Song held seminars on key issues of current EU studies with fellow researchers and PhD students.

As a renowned scholar in the field of Comparative Political Study of Europe, Dr. Song analyzed the issues of European integration and the political structure of EU in the seminar. He also introduced the development of EU integration, especially its impact on the world after the Lisbon Treaty. Professor Zhuyu LI, Professor Xiang Deng of ESC and about 30 postgraduates participated in the heated discussion.

The Director of ESC and Vice President of Sichuan University, Professor Jian SHI made conclusion remarks at the end of the seminar. He urged teachers and students present to learn from Dr. Song’s research thinking, methodology as well as his global vision.

On the evening of November 10, Dr. Song gave a fascinating lecture titled “EU-China Relations in Transition” to the postgraduates. The director of ESC and Vice President of Sichuan University, Professor Jian SHI chaired the lecture.

This lecture had three components: Evolution after Cold War, New Transition, and Challenges & Opportunities. During the lecture, Dr. SONG shared his insights on key issues, such as the character of European culture, Sino-EU diplomacy and East Asian Community. A lively Q & A session followed the lecture.

2009年11月10日，中国人民大学欧洲问题研究中心让.莫内讲席教授、比利时联合国大学比较区域一体化研究所高级研究员宋新宁博士，应四川大学欧洲问题研究中心邀请，到四川大学访问。访问期间，宋新宁教授与中心部分研究员和相关专业博士研究生就目前欧盟、欧洲研究的热点问题进行了座谈。

作为长期从事欧洲比较政治研究的著名学者，座谈中，宋新宁教授对欧洲一体化及欧盟政治架构变迁等问题进行了深入而广泛的分析，介绍了欧盟一体化进展历程，尤其分析了《里斯本条约》之后，欧盟的政治架构的变动及对世界的影响。宋教授还针对与会老师和同学感兴趣的领域进行了讲解和讨论。四川大学欧洲问题研究中心李竹渝教授，邓翔教授和张崇富博士等研究员，研究生等三十多人参加了座谈会。

中心主任石坚副校长做了总结发言，他鼓励与会老师和同学要学习宋新宁教授的研究思维和方法，用国际视野的角度来了解欧洲、研究欧洲。

11月10日晚，宋新宁教授以“转型期中的中欧关系（EU - China Relations in Transition）”为题，在我校研究生院做了精彩的学术演讲，受到与会师生的热烈欢迎。四川大学副校长、四川大学欧洲问题研究中心主任石坚教授主持了学术演讲会。

宋新宁教授演讲主要内容包括：中国与欧盟关系冷战后的发展（Evolution after Cold War）、中国-欧盟关系的新发展（New Transition）、挑战与机遇（Challenges & Opportunities）三个部分。讲演中，宋教授就欧洲文化的特质、欧盟—中国关系、东亚共同体等热点问题提出了自己独到的见解和分析。宋新宁教授还对中国—欧盟关系的发展提出了自己的独到见解。
