2009年5月8日下午，四川大学欧洲问题研究中心会议室张贴了欧盟生日快乐的展板，老师、同学齐聚一堂，在欧洲日前夕举办了第一届研究生论坛。

论坛由中心主任、让·莫讲座教授石坚博士主持，他首先就研究生的学术研究以及相关问题做了简短发言，勉励在座的研究生要胸怀大志、以国际国内社会科学发展的前沿问题作为研究目标，潜心读书，认真做研究。并对积极准备、参加论坛发言的来自经济学院、文学与新闻学院和外国语学院的四位研究生进行了表扬和鼓励。随后，经济学院的沈莹同学就“欧盟金融市场监管的发展及对我国的启示”；经济学院的何布根同学就“从次贷危机看美国金融市场监管模式及对我国的启示”做了专题发言。他们俩的发言引起与会师生的极大兴趣，大家就发言中谈到的与当前全球金融危机相关的问题提出自己的观点，并对一些专业问题进行了讨论。参会的老师也就发言中和论文中的一些问题进行了评论。随后，文学与新闻学院的罗瑞娜介绍了她的论文“The European Images on a Chinese Screen：To Discuss the Reflection of European Identity in William Maugham’s Works”的主要观点；外国语学院的潘文同学重点介绍了她的论文“Unity in Diversity: The Ongoing European Union’s Cultural Integration”，罗瑞娜和潘文同学都用流利的英语做了发言，并回答了大家提出的相关问题。他们的指导老师还就论文中应值得注意的地方提出了评论。

石坚教授最后欢迎欧洲青年学者来四川大学进行科研合作、学术交流，学校和中心都将提供积极的支持与合作。最后，石坚老师对第一届论坛的顺利召开进行了小结，并通告了以后中心将每年在欧洲日举行研究生论坛的决定，鼓励研究生们积极参加，交流各学科相关欧洲一体化方向的研究信息，加强各学科研究方向的学术交流，不断提高合作研究能力。最后，石坚主任向四位在第一届论坛发言的研究生赠送了欧洲一体化研究的相关书籍作为奖品，并与他们亲切合影留念。

This Graduates Forum was chaired by Dr. Shi Jian, Director of the European Studies Centre and Jean Monnet Chair Professor. At the beginning, Dr. Shi Jian gave a short speech about the graduate academic researches and other related issues, encouraging the graduates to study hard and to do rigorous researches on the frontier issues in the development of international and domestic Social Sciences. He praised four graduates who actively prepared and participated in this forum. Then graduate Shen Ying and He Bugen from College of Economics made their presentations on “The Development of EU Financial Market Regulation and Its Enlightenment to China” and “Looking into the Mode of U.S.A. Financial Market Regulation and Its Enlightenment to China” respectively. Their presentations aroused teachers’ and students’ great interest, triggering a hot discussion during which everyone expressed their own ideas on the financial crisis at present. Subsequently, Luo Ruina from College of Literature and Journalism and Pan Wen from College of Foreign Languages and Cultures introduced the main points of their M.A. thesis: The European Images on a Chinese Screen：To Discuss the Reflection of European Identity in William Maugham’s Works and Unity in Diversity: The Ongoing European Union’s Cultural Integration respectively. Both of them made their presentations in English and answered the related questions raised by teachers and students. Their supervisors also commented on their ideas and the parts deserving more attention.

Dr. Shi Jian summarized this Graduate Forum, informing the decision that from now on the European Studies Centre will hold Graduate Forum on European Day annually, encouraging graduates to participate in the Forum, where they would exchange the research information of European integration in various disciplines, and thus strengthen the academic communication among disciplines and improve the capacity of co-operative research continuously.

Finally, Dr. Shi Jian presented some books on European integration as prizes to the four speakers in the First Graduate Forum and amiably took pictures with them for memory.
